Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disorder characterized by decreased bone mass anddensity, leading to increased bone fragility and risk of fractures. This condition can beprimary (age-related) or secondary (due to underlying medical conditions ormedications).

A common form of primary osteoporosis is postmenopausal osteoporosis,which occurs in women after menopause due to decreased estrogen levels, leading toaccelerated bone loss.

MOA : Alendronate binds to hydroxyapatite in bone, inhibiting osteoclast activity andreducing bone resorption. By reducing bone resorption, alendronate leads to anincrease in bone mineral density, which can help prevent fractures.
